The hurricane is a symbol of change in the book. It causes
Tea Cake to be bitten and then he gets rabbis and eventually Janie has to shoot
him because of it. The hurricane is very violent just like the death of Tea
Cake. It is the end of the Tea Cake Janie knows because he starts to deteriorate
after the storm due to the rabbis.
